TIMELINE & STAKEHOLDERS


Timeline and Public Input

 This project will include many opportunities for stakeholder input and involvement. The Great South Bay Hard Clam Restoration Working Group will be seeking public input at several key points in the project.

 


1. Stakeholder interviews, March-April 2011

Stakeholders from a wide range of interests will be contacted to ensure that all important issues, concerns and values are understood in developing the project approach.

 

2. Introductory Workshop, May 25th, 2011, 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

West Sayville Country Club, 200 Main Street

The GSB Clam Restoration Working Group will present the approach and expected outcomes at this meeting, answer questions, and collect stakeholder feedback on the activities being proposed.

 

3. Public Workshops, May – November, 2011

Two to three public workshops and meetings will be held to discuss issues, options and results of studies related to the project outcomes.

4. Working Group Recommendations, October 2011

Based on the results of the project and stakeholder input, the Working Group will make recommendations to appropriate government entities with regard to regulations and their actions that will create a fair ongoing approach to clam management.

 

5. Government Action, late 2011

Each government entity will take appropriate actions to consider adoption of Working Group recommendations. Additional public input opportunities will be available for any proposed rule making.
